Looks like I'm growing out of blogging... [Apr. 7th, 2007|08:00 pm]
...Or maybe I'm just lazy.

Well, since I hardly ever write in this anymore, a lot has obviously happened since Vespers time! I'm working at Hewitt full time now, getting yelled at all day by people unhappy with their medical benefits, dependents, me, etc. It's not bad, it pays well and I have a friend to talk to, but it's definately not what I want to do for any longer than I need to (like after the wedding...)

Speaking of wedding, it's under six months away, eek! We have everything planned, including the honeymoon (San Fransisco and San Diego) it's just the invitations, decorations, dresses and favors to go. I got my tiara/veil on ebay for under sixty bucks, hoorah! That was my greatest achievement last week, go me. I can't wait to be married! And it'll be great because we'll be in our new apartment.

Speaking of new apartment (get the theme yet?) we're moving in 20 days into a one bedroom apartment in Wheeling, and I couldn't be more excited. It's a great place, with an indoor pool/two outdoor pools, a gym, clubhouse, lake, tennis courts and trails. We're allowed to paint and Ryan's parents are giving us a bunch of furniture, so we should be all set. We also got a Wii, so we're having an apartment warming/wii party after we get all moved in! And my friend Justin lives in the building too, he was in Schoolhouse Rock with me.

Speaking of Schoolhouse Rock, that wrapped up in February, but we're doing a PTA performance in two weeks for turn off your tv week, which is amusing since the musical's about a woman turning on her tv, but I digress. Highland Park is also doing Gypsy this fall, which I'm uber stoked about. I've been working out, not just for that, but for the wedding too, but Louise is good inspiration! I'm on haitus from shows right now, especially because I just joined a new band.

Speaking of the new band, I just got into it on Thursday. They're called An Unnatural Act, and it's a rock cover band that I'm now the singer of. We've got a gig on Cinco de Mayo, and then we're going on haitus for a month to learn another hour or so of music. It's four guys, two guitars, a drummer and bass. They're really cool, and actually talented, which was very much not the case with the band I was working with before. That band was basically just two guys that wanted to show off how much money they had and play jam songs that no one could sing to. I'm glad that didn't work out.

So that's what's new for me. Kitten turns one on Monday, which is also the anniversary of Ryan and I getting engaged, which is absolutely nuts because it means I've been out of college for almost a year. I'm going back next weekend to see the SAI girls get initiated by my Heather and to see Mere, Allison, Christina/CJ, Cory, Matt, Colin and the U choir kids. And Ellyn and Leigh are coming, all we need is Jen and Dave for the full house-matey reunion! It'll be my last Milli-trip for awhile, unless the band gets a gig at LSB, which we're looking into! So if anyone wants to come help us move, we'll give you food/drink and let you play our wii, just putting that out there!

Love!

It's weird to see one thing that someone writes and to have the whole flood of your insecurities and failings come back. I miss my Decatur friends, but I'm glad that college is over and that my life is moving to better places. Maturity is a blessing.

I started my new job at Hewitt, and it's going well, it's just like school right now because we just have lectures and learning, and I'm picking it up really fast which can get annoying when I have to wait on everyone else to get it, but it'll get better. I've made a friend named Jennifer who's my age (finally, someone my age!) and met other nice people. I only have one more weekend at six flags and I'm gonna miss Lindsay so much when she goes back to school!
Zachary came to visit last week, it was amazing, I've missed him so much in the year since I last got to see him. I'm hoping to make it up to New York sometime soon to hang out.
Ryan is staying with me during the week now since we work at the same place, and we've fixed up the apartment real nice, I'll have to take more pictures! It's just nice to finally get settled.
Well, I have more work tomorrow so I better go, but here's a survey to entertain you!

Lilah (my new kitten) moved in today, and she's currently sending out sonar type kitty language to try and relocate her mother and siblings, and it's very sad to watch...althought she keeps getting distracted by a piece of paper on the floor or an old couch to scratch, or things to jump on. She's also trying now to attack her tail. She's so ADD! That and she keeps walking across the keyboard...I think she wants to type! Anyway, she's precious and dainty and beautiful, and she's going to be a total handful, I can tell already, but I love her. But now it's bedtime, I have work tomorrow!

It's been a hard last two days, with a lot of soul searching and contemplating on my part, and I've come to realize a lot of things.

College was a hard time in my life. Freshman year held some of the hardest things I've ever had to go through, and while I know they've made me stronger and into who I am today, they've also taken away parts of me too. I lost most of my innocence that year and my heart to a boy that was careless with it. I lost more than just my heart to him too, and that's what made it worse.

Sophomore year was better because I'd grown, but harder because in the middle of first semester something happened to me, something I still can't talk about without hurting, but something that never should have taken place. This weekend I realized how much that hurt is still inside of me, and how angry I am at that man. He took the rest of my innocence about the world away and in one night showed me the evil that man can possess. I didn't realize his effects until much later, but I do wish I'd said something sooner to someone that could have done something about it. Ryan was my safety net that year, the boy I turned to because I knew he wouldn't hurt me, physically or mentally. And then I took away his innocence by hurting him emotionally by walking out when I couldn't handle it anymore.

That brought me to junior year and the beginning of healing, with my SAI sisters and Leigh being people I could finally trust and turn to so that I could walk away from my old life of the past two years. They showed me what real friendship is and how I could be loved for who I was, not who I had to try to be. My band helped too, giving me an outlet to start writing more and playing more, and to really just sing, and to not be judged or talked about as we tended to do to each other in vocal performance. SAI saved me, from myself, from the bad group I had hung out with, from everything. Junior year was about growing up, and when I met Michael I thought I had grown up enough, but I hadn't. I was still the hurt little girl inside, the one that couldnt' face what had happened the year before, so I clung to Michael because I thought that would help. And eventually, he couldn't handle it anymore and turned elsewhere, to other girls that didn't need as much emotional support. And while I freaked out at the time, looking back now, I understand a little better. I don't think it was right, but I don't think I was right either. Every reaction comes from another. I read one of the girl's journals tonight from that time and I know now how she had to feel during that time and I regret the amount of hatred I projected onto her and about her that she didn't deserve. She's a good person and a nice girl, and she deserves better.

Senior year was a lot about what I just said, at least the first semester. But the second semester brought the unexpected, it brought me true love. It brought me back Ryan. It gave me the man that could handle all the bad in my past and still see me, the woman he loved. I was able to tell him last night what happened sophomore year, something I've alluded to with others but have never been able to tell the whole story. It's with him that I am able to start to love myself again, because of the love he's shown me, and it's not just him, it's God too. I'm not happy with how I look right now, a lot of outward things, but I am content with knowing that God has given me back the man of my dreams, though I never knew it until this last semester of college. His love and God's love are all that keeps me going sometimes but they're all that I need too.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I realize now that I spent a lot of time in college hurting, and because of that hurting I did and said a lot of things that I now wish I hadn't. I'm going to make an effort to fix what I've done, but I know that's not always possible. So to my girls, my SAI sisters, my housematey's and friends, thank you for standing by me in these times of hardship. Thank you even though you didn't know my pain specifically for holding me up when I needed it. Katie, Ellyn, Leigh, Christina, Allison, Celeen, Heather, Dave, Jen, Melody, Colin, Jessi, and all the others that let me confide in them, thank you from the bottom of my newly healing heart.

One last thing...I guess to all my girls still in college, or even those out...if any man ever does something to you that you know is wrong, NEVER be afraid to do what's right. If I had, other girls may have not had the same thing happen to them as me, and I know there were others. I wish I'd had the friends then that I do now, because I know I would have been stronger to do what was needed.

Love and eternal roses,
Jess.

I have internet again! I'm not sure how long it'll last this time, but hey, I'm not complaining

I got a job at Spherion, which is a personnel company that works for Hewitt associates, which is a company that handles large corporation's health benifits, like JC Penny's, Home Depot, Verizon, etc. I'm going to be a customer service representative and have my own cubicle and everything! It's in Libertyville, which is about 20 miles away, and pays well, so I won't have to worry so much about money and all that, and I can start saving for the wedding!

I'm getting a kitten! She's 3 months old, yellow and white and supposedly adorable, my mom's seen her, I haven't yet. I'm getting her on the 15th when I show my in laws the great QC.

I got to go home from last Friday until the 4th, and it was amazing. I got to see Jessi, Michelle, Megan, Katie, Michael, and Ben. I packed my room at home since my mom has sold the house and went to see my cousin's new baby. It was nice to be around people for awhile, and it made going back to my apartment a little easier.

So things are certainly looking up! Kirsten's coming next week to see Pirates of the Carribean and Ryan's coming next week also to work and to see me, and Katie and Meredith are hopefully coming later this month also.

Love and Roses!

So update...

I moved to my sweet apartment in Waukegan
I started work at Six Flags Great America as a Character slave...I mean actor
I decided that I didn't want to spend my summer getting minimum wage and being treated like a high schooler
I put in my notice at Six Flags, I will now be done on Saturday.
I've been applying to every job that sound feasible, I think I'm up to 12.
I really want to be an administrative assistant to the Chicago Tribune, because that sounds like a sweet job.
I really just want a job that pays enough money for me to start saving for my wedding
I get to see Ryan quite a bit, which is wonderful!
I miss all my friends SOOOO much, please come visit me here!
Dave and Ryan have visited, and I'm going to see Kirsten, and Zach may be coming up here.
I'm going home for Greg and Libby's wedding and to see all my friends!
I get free cable and free internet by a miracle of God.
That really covers all the new stuff! Call me if you're in the area, I LOVE having company!
Love and Roses,
Jess

I as usual forget all the time that I should actually update this! Things are going well, Easter break was pretty fun. We met with both Ryan's family and my family about wedding stuff and that went well, and we booked both the church and the reception hall! Our wedding is going to be at my church in Moline at 7 pm on the 22nd of Sept. (2007) and the reception at 8 at the University Club a block away. The club is really beautiful, brick walls and wooden floors, a mix of modern and old fashioned appeal. We also got our whole wedding party confirmed, so that's good! We've gotten so much done so early, and that's a load off, esp. with looking for apartments and jobs for the next year. Speaking of...

If you or anyone you know is looking for a roommate or has an apt. or room to rent in the Chicago/Gurnee area for this summer, PLEASE let me know! It's getting to the crunch time and I'm running out of options. Thanks!

Other than that, things have been going well. School is winding down, and formal is next weekend, so I'm really excited! Ellyn's recital is this Saturday at 6pm in Pilling with Bernie, so if you're around, come to it, it'll be awesome!

My MIT's got initiated this last Tuesday, I'm so proud of them! They are 13 beautiful and amazing girls, and I know they'll be a big asset to our chapter in the years to come.

Love!
